(Alexandria, LA) –It was the final round of the Coke Dr. Pepper Open at Oakwing Golf Club. The players went off both sides starting at 8:00am CT with the final group going off number one at 9:00am CT. As the players continued to battle for the $7,500 first place prize as well as exemption into the Windsor Classic on the Symetra Tour later this year, it was a three player race between Maddie McCrary (Wylie, TX), Jessica Porvasnik (Hinckley,OH), and Ana Ruiz (Chihuahua, MX) with Jessica Porvasnik crowned the 2020 Coke Dr. Pepper Open Champion.
Porvasnik applied pressure immediately on the 54-hole leader Maddie McCrary with a birdie on the first hole. She then was able to birdie the par 4 5th hole and get up and down from a difficult position on the left side of the 9th green. Porvasnik made the turn shooting a 34 and was still 3 back of McCrary.
The back nine was when Porvasnik came alive and was able to get a birdie on hole 11. She then would par the 12th hole before rattling off four straight birdies on holes 13-16. McCrary was able to maintain the lead most the day and eagled the par 5 14th for her only under par hole of the back nine. McCrary bogied the par 3 17th and Porvasnik pared giving her the lead heading into 18. Both players would par the 18th hole giving Porvasnik the win by one stroke.
