The Women’s All Pro Tour Partners with the CoBank Colorado Women’s Open
DALLAS, TX – The WAPT is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Colorado Open Golf Foundation to promote and enhance opportunities for women in professional golf.
As the official qualifying tour of the LPGA’s Symetra Tour, the WAPT provides opportunities to its top players to advance to the LPGA’s Symetra Tour. Now the CGOF and the WAPT are providing players the opportunity to qualify and earn an exemption into one of the country’s premier Women’s State Opens.
First, the WAPT will host a qualifier for the CoBank Colorado Women’s Open during the first round of the Hot Springs Ouachita Championship, April 27th at Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, AR. This enables the players to complete in an official WAPT tournament and attempt to qualify for the CoBank Colorado Women’s Open.
“The primary initiative of the WAPT is to prepare our professionals for life on the LPGA,” says WAPT president Gary DeSerrano. “We accomplish this with the events we conduct and the playing opportunities through partnerships. The CoBank Colorado Women’s Open has quickly established itself as one of the top state opens for women to compete. We could not be happier to partner with the Colorado Open Golf Foundation.”
Additionally, the top points earner on the 2021 WAPT Player of the Year points through the first 3 WAPT events will receive an exemption into the CoBank Colorado Women‘s Open June 2-4, 2021. The points will be accumulated at the Abilene Open, the Wichita Falls Open and the Hot Springs Ouachita Championship. If this person can‘t accept the exemption, it will go to second place, and then third place if necessary. No other places will be eligible.
“The Colorado Open Golf Foundation Board of Trustees is excited to enhance our 27th annual CoBank Colorado Women’s Open championship by partnering with the WAPT and the players they represent. It is truly a win-win having their competitors get an opportunity to qualify into our event, and their leading top point earner through their first three tournaments earns an exemption into our $150,000 championship.” – Kevin Laura, CEO
