Who is eligible to play in an WAPT event?

The WAPT is open to female professionals who are 16 years of age or older and eligible ranked amateurs, 15 years of age or older. Foreign players are required to be internationally recognized in order to play on the WAPT.

Can I play in a WAPT event as an amateur?

Yes amateurs may participate as long as they are 15 years of age by the first round of the tournament, and fall into one of the following criteria:

  • In the Top 75 on current Golfweek Collegiate Rankings
  • In the Top 150 on the current WAGR
  • An invite by a tournament sponsor
  • All Amateurs who do not meet the criteria above must have a World Handicap System Index of 4.0 or less. 

If I am a member of the Epson Tour or LPGA, do I get a discount on my WAPT Membership or entry fees?

 Yes. 2023 members of the Epson Tour or LPGA Tour may join the WAPT for $400, and enjoy all of the benefits of being a WAPT member including  the lowest entry fees and eligibility for Race to Stage II points, and the Carry Player of the Year Award.  The regular membership fee is $675.

For those Epson/LPGA players who do not want to join the WAPT,  they can register for tournaments as a Guest Epson/LPGA Player for $650, rather than the standard non-member rate of $750. Please note that non-members of the WAPT are not eligible for PXG Race to Stage II points or the Carry Player of the Year Award.

How do I Earn One of the Epson Tour Exemptions?

The top two (2) finishers of each WAPT tournament before Stage 1 of LPGA Q-School will earn an exemption into a designated future Epson Tour event. Exemptions will NOT be passed down should a WAPT exemption winner already be in the Epson Tournament field. WAPT membership is not required to be eligible for these Exemptions.

How does the PXG Race To Stage II work?

The PXG Race to Stage II is an annual points race awarding the top five (5) WAPT players and ties an exemption to Stage II of LPGA qualifying. To be eligible you MUST be a Member of the 2023 WAPT. Exemption will NOT be passed down, even if the exemption earners are already eligible in the Stage II field. Non-members of the WAPT do not receive points during the year and are not eligible for these Stage II exemptions.

Who is eligible for the pro-ams?

Pro-Am events are generally played the day before the first round of the tournament. Depending on the number of pro-am teams, professionals will participate in pro-ams based on the following protocol: Top 20 on the PXG Race To Stage II, Requests by local sponsors, Players volunteering to participate.

Do I have to pay for a practice round?

Practice rounds are FREE on designated Practice Round Days to all players that want to walk.  A fee will apply to those players that want to rent a golf cart (usually around $15-25). You MUST call the pro shop and arrange for a Tee Time – No Walk Ups!

Do I have to pay for a range balls?

Range balls are free all week, before and after tournament rounds.

Are there cuts and how many players make the CUT?

Yes, similar to an LPGA or Epson Tour event, the WAPT does cut the field after 36 holes. The top 40% of the starting field and ties after 36 holes will make the CUT. Amateurs are included in the cut number, but only pros making the cut will earn a check. Also, any player shooting 88 or higher during the 1st round of any tournament will be cut from the field.

Are yardage books available at each site?

Yes. A limited number of books are available each week. They are sold for $25 in the WAPT trailer or tournament headquarters on Sunday,  Monday, and Tuesday. We accept credit cards or cash. To help us make sure we have enough books, please indicate during registration whether you plan to purchase a yardage book.

Is private housing be available at tournaments?

Private housing is available at most events, but is not guaranteed.  Private housing is for WAPT members only and is only be available to players registered for an event.  Members may request housing during the registration process. Housing is first registered,  first served. So register early!  Please note that private housing is not available for caddies, spouses, family members or anyone other than players.

As housing becomes available, you will be contacted by the local housing director.

Note: If you have not been contacted about housing 21 days before the event, we strongly suggest you make other arrangements. If housing becomes available for you within 21 days of the tournament, you have the option to cancel your other arrangements.

 

How will I receive my earnings from a tournament?

ALL WAPT earnings are distributed by Direct Deposit  through our Quickbooks payroll service. After you make your first tournament cut, you will be sent  an email from Intuit Quickbooks to set up an account, and  to enter your direct deposit information.    Foreign players will need to contact Kathy DeSerrano at the Tour Office 817-567-3654 to arrange payment options.

If I qualify or gain entry into an Epson Tour or LPGA Tour event will my entry fee be refunded?

Yes.  Players scheduled to play in a WAPT event, but qualify or become eligible to play in either an LPGA or Epson Tour event the same week, will receive credit for their WAPT entry fee. The player must notify the Tour office as soon as she gains access to the LPGA/Epson Tour event.  There is no fee to transfer the entry to another WAPT event, but there is a $25 administrative fee for all refund request. Please note, no refunds or transfers will be given once a player has teed off  in a WAPT event.

When are tee times posted?

The 1st & 2nd round tee times will be posted 36 hours prior to the start of each event.  Pairings will be posted at the Tour trailer, texted to players,  available online at www.wapt.golf at each tournament’s information page and on the BlueGolf Pro Golf app.

How do I withdraw from a tournament?

Players MUST call the tour office at 817-567-3654 to withdraw from any WAPT event.  Withdrawals will be accepted for any reason when notice is given by 5:00 PM, seven (7) days before the first round.  Players can transfer their entry fee to a future tournament at no additional cost, or get a refund back to their credit card.  There will be a $50 administrative fee for all refunds.  

For withdrawals within seven (7) days of the tournament, the player will forfeit her entry fee to this tournament.  Late withdrawals due to Medical or personal emergencies will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and if accepted, there will be a $50 administrative fee.

No refund or credit will be offered once a player has teed off during tournament play.  No Shows will NOT receive a refund or credit.

Are range finders allowed during tournament play?

The use of distance-measuring devices will be permitted in all WAPT events.  The devices with slope, must be able to turn off this feature to be eligible.

Are golf carts allowed?

No.  Unless otherwise stated, all WAPT events will be walking.  Carts will be allowed during practice rounds and pro-ams.

Are push carts allowed?

Yes. Players and caddies are allowed to use push carts. However, electric and motorized carts are not allowed. 

Does the WAPT rent Pushcarts?

Yes. We also have 12 Clicgear push carts that may be rented each week for $40 for the week. You may reserve a push cart during tournament registration. A list of cart rentals is available on each tournaments info page.

Am I required to have a caddy?

No, you are allowed to carry your own bag or use a push cart.  If you bring a caddy, they must wear Caddy Bibs during tournament play. Bibs are supplied at the starting tee. And caddies ARE allowed to use push carts.

Is there a host hotel provided at each event?
Yes, there will be a host hotel for each event that will provide a discounted rate to tournament players.  Information regarding the host hotel can be found on each tournament’s info page.
Are there any member benefits regarding equipment and apparel?
