Cooper claims second title of the ‘24 season at Oscar Williams Classic

(Anna, TX) – The Oscar Williams Classic held in Anna, TX has concluded and a familiar face held the trophy for the second time in the 2024 season. At the end of the 72 hole event, Hailee Cooper (Montogmery, TX) took home the title with carding an even par 72 in the final round.

After turning in scores of 71, 74, and 68, Cooper was two shots back from the 54 hole leader, Angelina Ye (Shanghai, China) who had scores of 70,72 and 69 under her belt. However, Cooper showed no hesitation keeping things consistent as she turned in a bogey-free front nine with birdies on holes two and six to start off the final 18.

“I started off really well, birdied the two par 5’s and I was just hitting the ball well, putting well and playing some solid golf. My back nine came in and the wind started gusting a little bit, the greens were firmer and faster, so it took a little bit to adjust,” said Cooper.

The Texas A&M alum found herself with the first bogey of the day on hole 10 and then followed with one birdie and two more bogeys to finish her round four shots ahead of Ye.

“I made a couple of bogeys here and there but I made a really good birdie on 11 that shifted my mindset of knowing I could win this tournament,” said Cooper.

The Montgomery native has had an impressive season so far, winning two out of the three ANNIKA WAPT events she has played for the 2024 year. Although Cooper didn’t take the title at the Taco Bell Natchez Classic held in April, she still finished in the top 10 allowing her to move to the second spot of the Callaway Race To Stage II points list.

Along with Cooper, Ye will also earn an exemption into the EPSON Tour’s FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship (June 7-9) for placing in the top two at the Oscar Williams Classic.
