Gurleen Kaur Leaves Footprint on WAPT

GURLEEN KAUR LEAVES FOOTPRINT ON THE WAPT

Oct 19, 2023

DALLAS, TX – Just before missing the cut last year at Stage I, Gurleen Kaur (Houston, TX) was hopeful for her future in professional golf. Kaur is now leaving her footprint on the Women’s All Pro Tour, as she had a stellar performance finishing third on the PXG Race to Stage II for the 2023 season. The Houston native, who played in nine WAPT events, ended the season taking home the hardware at the Heritage Classic in Wichita, KS.

Kaur locked in her spot for the 2024 Epson Tour with her T2 finish at the Epson Tour Championship located in Daytona Beach, FL. She will now walk into Stage II with pressure off her back for earning her Epson Tour card.

“I went in with no expectations and ended up playing really well. The golf course was getable and I just felt like it suited my game,” said Kaur. “I was able to bomb it and make a lot of good putts as well because the greens were pretty straight forward.”

For many golfers, Stage II is a daunting challenge featuring a highly competitive field that all has one goal; playing for a limited number of LPGA/ Epson Tour cards. However, Kaur remains undaunted, seeing this as an opportunity to prove herself and to take a step towards her dreams.

“It was nice because I was able to guarantee my Epson Tour status for next year, which is nice because I went into this year having absolutely no status,” said Kaur.

Kaur, who seems to be playing at the top of her game says this go-around will be different as she tries to think of the bigger picture rather than putting pressure on specific moments.

“It’s just a tournament and it does not make or break me. I think that was my issue last year at Stage I,” said Kaur. “I just put too much pressure on myself. So, I’m just trying to play the best I can.”
