18-year-old Yeji Kwon wins Genesis of Conway Central Arkansas Open

(Conway, AR) – The final round of the Genesis of Conway Central Arkansas Open has wrapped up and a new champion walked away with the 2024 title. With another day of sunny skies and near to none wind, the field had every opportunity to battle for the top spot. However, it was 18-year-old Yeji Kwon (British Columbia, Canada) who found herself chasing her first professional win during the final 18 holes.

After turning in scores of 71, 68 and 69, Kwon sat at the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round. Despite this being the Candian’s second event as a professional, Kwon showed no signs of intimidation as she turned in a bogey-free 2-under 34 for her front nine score. Heading into the final nine, Kwon kept the fire going as she birdied holes 10, 14 and 15 for a total score of 5-under 67 to take the victory.

“I turned pro just two months ago and had my first professional win, so it means a lot and I’m just really happy,” said Kwon.

Not only was she able to claim the title at Centennial Valley Golf & Athletic Club, but Kwon’s dad also played a special role in helping her achieve the win.

“My dad was on the bag all week. I just tried to stay as focused as possible and he was with me trying to keep me calm so it was a really big help this week,” said Kwon. “I’m super thankful for my parents and everything they’ve done for me and I can’t thank them enough.”

Jieni Lu (China) finished in the second spot with a total score of 8-under, while Worapitcha Anudit (Thailand) and Jackie Lucena (Gainesville, FL) finished T3 at 7-under.

A special thank you to Tournament Director April Worley, Tournament Director Pete Tanguay, our Title Sponsor Genesis of Conway, Centennial Valley G & AC General Manager Mike Smith, Centennial Valley G & AC Superintendent Jason Miller, housing coordinator Jill Enderlin, and the Conway community for a great week.
